Agaves Oaxaqueños

Inspired by the vast agave fields in Oaxaca, Mexico, "Agaves Oaxaqueños" celebrates the many forms of agave against the mountainous terrain that they inhabit in southern Mexico.

Large cerulean skies reign over the mountains whose silhouette presides over swaths of agave. The sky's brilliant blue gradient lends itself to both a bright afternoon day or a darkening evening as its stars (composed of crystals) twinkle in real light. From left to right, the constellations depicted are Cancer, Scorpio, Aquarius, and Pisces.

The field of agave itself contains many shapes, colors, and forms of the agave which fade away into the distance. At the forefront of art are four various agaves which also celebrate the diversity of the agave species.

Of course, it wouldn't be a proper Leo Lopez art piece were it not for the constellations composed in crystals, and two references to New York City itself (hint: two agaves reference the Statue of Liberty). To complete the work, there is a shooting star added for good luck.
